2 Weeks PTO, Paid Holidays, 401(k), About Us Cape Ann Autobody and Service Center is a growing vehicle service company specializing in Autobody Repair and Automotive Mechanical Services. We are looking for a dependable and organized Mechanical Service Writer to join our growing team and help deliver excellent customer service while keeping mechanical repair operations running efficiently. Position Summary The Mechanical Service Writer serves as the communication link between customers and our mechanics. This role is responsible for opening repair orders, documenting customer concerns, scheduling service work, ordering parts, preparing estimates, and ensuring customers are updated throughout the repair process. Responsibilities Greet customers and gather detailed information about service concerns Create and manage repair orders and work tickets Communicate repair recommendations and estimates to customers Answer any questions customer may have Convey technical mechanical information in clear, concise language Coordinate workflow between mechanics and customers Order parts and track parts availability Schedule appointments and manage shop workflow Maintain accurate service records and documentation Process invoices and collect payments Follow up with customers regarding completed repairs and satisfaction Ensure excellent customer service and professional communication Qualifications Previous experience as a service writer, service advisor, or mechanical office coordinator preferred Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills Ability to up-sell services vehicle needs and resolve customer complaints calmly Comfort being the subject matter expert liaison to customers Understanding of mechanical components, diagnostic process, and vehicle maintenance schedules preferred Ability to juggle multiple repair orders, manage appointments, and coordinate with parts departments simultaneously Strong organizational and computer skills Experience with shop management software is a plus Valid driver's license Preferred Experience Experience in automotive Familiarity with parts sourcing and inventory management Experience preparing estimates and repair documentation What We Offer Competitive pay Opportunities for advancement Stable, year-round work Supportive team environment Paid training and continued education Benefits package available
