10/02/2026 About the Position The City of Grandview is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Customer Service Assistant to join our License Office team. This is a fast-paced, customer-facing position where accuracy matters. Customer Service Assistants process motor vehicle and driver license transactions, verify documentation, collect and record fees, and help customers navigate licensing requirements. Because the work involves official records, financial transactions, and personal documentation, successful candidates must be able to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy or attention to detail. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with the public, can follow established procedures, stays organized when the office is busy, and understands the importance of getting the details right the first time. Important Scheduling Information Please review the schedule requirements carefully before applying. This position requires flexible availability. Work schedules will vary from week to week based on staffing and operational needs and are generally created one week in advance. Employees should be prepared to work a mix of opening, daytime, evening, and Saturday shifts and must be open to working throughout the License Office's operating hours.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday:

8:00 a.m.

•5:00 p.m.

Wednesday:

8:00 a.m.

•7:00 p.m.

Saturday:

8:00 a.m.

•12:00 p.m. Applicants should consider whether this level of schedule flexibility works for them before applying. A consistent Monday-Friday or set weekly shift should not be expected. What You'll Do As a Customer Service Assistant, you will: Receive and review license applications and carefully verify information for accuracy and completeness. Issue license plates, driver's licenses, stickers, and other applicable documents. Assist customers with applications and explain required documentation and signatures. Receive and accurately record licensing fees. Handle cash, make change, and complete cash reports and deposit forms. Process transactions using computer systems and run daily activity reports. Review, sort, and file application paperwork and records. Answer telephone calls, assist customers, and route inquiries appropriately. Follow established procedures and direction from supervisors and senior staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Accuracy & Attention to Detail Accuracy is a critical part of this position. Customer Service Assistants routinely work with vehicle titles, applications, proof of insurance, identification documents, financial transactions, and other official records. A strong candidate will be able to: Carefully review documents and identify missing or incorrect information. Enter information accurately into computer systems. Follow detailed policies, procedures, and instructions. Perform basic calculations and handle financial transactions accurately. Maintain attention to detail while assisting customers in a busy environment. Balance speed and customer service with the need to complete transactions correctly. What We're Looking For Candidates should have: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. At least one year of responsible clerical experience. Strong customer service and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word. Comfort working with numbers, handling money, and performing basic calculations. Ability to learn and consistently follow established procedures.
