Waterfront Marine is a full-service boat dealership and marina with premium locations in NJ and Maryland. Waterfront Marine offers new and used boat sales, service, slips, storage, and support for seasonal and year-round boaters. We are seeking a customer-focused Marine Service Writer for our Brick, NJ location to help keep our service department organized, responsive, and efficient. Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated Service Writer to join our team. The Service Writer plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the day-to-day flow of the service department. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with boat diagnostics, marine maintenance, and service writing, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced marina environment. This role is responsible for gathering service needs, preparing repair estimates, opening and managing work orders, communicating updates, and helping ensure a smooth customer experience from drop-off through completion. Key Responsibilities Communicate with customers to determine boat issues, service concerns, and maintenance needs Provide accurate estimates for repairs, maintenance, labor, parts, and recommended services Open, track, update, and transmit work orders to the appropriate departments Coordinate with mechanics and technicians to help ensure timely completion of work Keep customers informed on job status, approvals, delays, and completion timelines Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate service and payment records Review completed work with customers and support invoicing and payment processing Assist technicians with oil changes and basic maintenance tasks as needed Assist with ordering, receiving, and billing parts when needed to expedite the workflow Assist with warranty claims and processing when necessary Help maintain an organized, professional, and customer-focused marina service environment Qualifications Previous experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, or similar role is preferred Strong background in boat diagnostics, marine maintenance, and service writing required Marine industry experience and familiarity with boats, engines, and marine systems is required Experience with dealership service procedures, estimating, and repair order systems is preferred Ability to explain technical service needs clearly and professionally Strong customer service and communication skills Strong organization, multitasking, and follow-up skills Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits This is a full-time, in-person position based in Brick, NJ Compensation is competitive and based on experience Benefits include health coverage, 401K, paid time off, and employee discounts, depending on the final offer package If you are passionate about the boat industry, enjoy helping customers, and want to be part of a fast-paced service team at the Jersey Shore, we would love to hear from you.
