Who We Are The Cambridge Food Co-op is a community-owned grocery store committed to fostering a resilient community by providing healthy, sustainable food and featuring local producers within an inviting, supportive space. We believe shopping local supports not just our members, but our entire community. Role Summary The Front End Associate helps create a welcoming, organized, and community-focused shopping experience for customers and members of the Co-op. This role blends customer service, cashiering, store operations, and teamwork in a fast-paced small grocery environment. Front End Associates work closely with managers, staff, member-workers, and customers to ensure the store runs smoothly day-to-day.
Reports to:
General Manager Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Relations Provide friendly, helpful customer service and assist with transactions, questions, and special requests Educate customers about membership, products, store layout, and Co-op policies Assist customers with bulk goods, scales, and product location Answer and direct phone calls as needed Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for staff, members, and shoppers 2. Store Operations Operate the cash register and Point of Sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store that is appealing to customers Assist with stocking, pricing, shelving, and inventory tasks Perform opening and closing procedures Count register drawers and assist with daily cash handling and deposits Enter product and cost information into store systems as assigned Follow store procedures and food safety guidelines Support managers and team members with additional tasks as needed What We're Looking For 1. Required Qualifications Reliable, organized, and willing to take initiative Experience working collaboratively as part of a team Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment Basic computer and data-entry skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time 2.
