Service Center Representative - Medicare & Special Projects (Contract)

Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
PT Duration:
6?month contract (through ~12/31/2025)

Onsite for training ? then becomes remote after Overview A leading healthcare organization in the San Diego region is seeking a Service Center Representative to support its Medicare and Special Projects team. This role requires strong critical thinking, accuracy, and the ability to work independently while navigating complex systems. The SCR will handle heavy data entry (80%), outbound calls (20%), and a wide range of membership, billing, and account?maintenance tasks. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 2+ years in accounting, finance, or related field with heavy data entry Strong proficiency in math, typing, spelling, grammar, and multi?screen navigation High School Diploma or equivalent Must pass required assessments with high scores in Data Entry, Thoroughness, and Learning Potential Must live within 2 hours of the San Diego worksite and be able to work onsite as needed Nice to Have Bachelor's degree Background in healthcare, account management, finance, or banking Experience resolving complex billing or eligibility issues Strong academic performance for recent graduates Key Responsibilities Perform account maintenance, billing, reconciliation, reporting, and customer?service?related tasks Process and maintain member data: enrollments, corrections, retro adjustments, terminations Research and reconcile billing payments to ensure accurate eligibility and revenue records Support eligibility inquiries and ensure timely, accurate billing Communicate with purchaser benefit administrators to explain policies and resolve membership or billing issues Assist sales and service teams with membership accounting and problem resolution Resolve payment discrepancies and delinquencies Identify, batch, scan, code, and index documents for imaging Provide office support: mail handling, filing, supply ordering, facilities tasks, photocopying Work with internal/external customers and vendors to resolve support?service issues Track productivity and customer?service KPIs Participate in team projects and process?improvement initiatives Assist with training and cross?department communication Support purchaser performance evaluations and target?setting Perform additional duties as assigned Onsite/Remote Expectations First 6 weeks: Fully onsite for training After training: Eligible for fully remote work based on performance Must remain within 1 hour of 92108 and return onsite if equipment issues occur Option to work onsite full?time if preferred Schedule Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm PT No absences allowed during the 7?week training period or during holidays No time off permitted in the first 90 days Assessment Requirements Mandatory assessment (50-75 minutes) Must score highly in: Data Entry Learning Potential Thoroughness Additional Notes This is a top?tier healthcare employer - strong opportunity for skill?building and résumé growth No flexibility on start date (7/6/24) Some weeks may be limited to 20 hours before Open Enrollment Overtime opportunities available during peak periods Equipment provided during onsite training and for remote work
