Company DescriptionCome join our team and become part of what the Boston Globe has recognized as one of the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts 2018 - 2025! Saving lives through organ and tissue donation is the mission uniting our employees and drives the work we do. New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 55 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation's donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves nearly 15 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With nearly $150M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 398 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

As a Tissue Donation Coordinator, the work you do will help guide donor families through the tissue donation process that can lead to impacting countless individuals.

Tissue donations are pivotal in helping children who require heart valve transplants lead full and healthy lives, breast cancer survivors in need of mastectomy surgeries feel whole again, restoring sight to those who suffer from corneal blindness, and so many others.
What You'll Do:
Handle incoming donor referral calls from hospital staff and clinical partners to obtain and evaluate medical information regarding potential tissue donor suitabilityWork empathetically and compassionately with potential donor families to advocate for donation, conduct history questionnaires, and obtain informed consent to donationCoordinate logistics of tissue recoveries with both internal and external partners and stakeholdersFollow best practices and provide exemplary customer service while communicating with teammates, partners, and stakeholders including Hospital staff, Clinical partners, Funeral Homes, Medical Examiners, District Attorneys, and others.
What You'll Work:
Three 12-hour shifts per weekOne 12-hour on-call shift every 2 weeksA variety of Day, Mid, and Night shiftsShifts you select in our collaborative self-scheduling modelShifts in person and remote in our fully hybrid staffing modelAbility to work both remotely from a home office setting and onsite in Waltham, MA - remote opportunities are available once you have completed the orientation process (after several months) and you are completely independent. During the orientation period all shifts will be on site in Waltham, MA.Shifts that support our 24-hour, 365-day a year mission including weekends and holidaysWhat You'll Be a

QualificationsWhat You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience; or, strong consideration will be given to candidates who have an Associate's degree, certification or license and 3+ years of relevant experience in medical field, health sciences, mental health or counseling with expertise in crisis intervention and/or grief counselingWorking knowledge of medical terminologyExcellent telephone communication skillsStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, clinical databases, and Electronic Medical RecordsExcellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detailMust be flexible and proactive, and have a positive attitudeAbility to work both remotely from a home office setting and onsite in Waltham, MA - remote opportunities are available once you have completed the orientation process and you are completely independent.
