Job Description
JOB Under general supervision of the division supervisor, the Customer Service Representative I (CSR I) performs a variety of administrative and customer service duties. This position serves as a primary point of contact for the public, providing information, processing payments, and directing inquiries. The CSR I supports various City functions, including utilities, permitting, and municipal court services, and is responsible for maintaining accurate records, responding to customer concerns, and supporting internal departments. The position does not supervise other employees

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides front-line customer service by responding to public inquiries, emails, and phone calls; directs visitors and callers to appropriate departments. Interprets and explains City policies, departmental guidelines, and ordinances to customers. Maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming front lobby; reports facility or maintenance concerns as needed. Receives and processes payments; prepares receipts and balances cash drawers daily. Prepares and reconciles daily bank deposits. Supports various departments by analyzing citation, utility account, or permit application information as needed. Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion and accuracy. Participates in cross-training for both utility and permitting functions; must demonstrate substantial knowledge in both areas within six (6) months and master both within one (1) year. Maintains accurate records, databases, and filing systems. Regular and punctual attendance is required for all scheduled work hours. May be required to perform duties outside of typical responsibilities during natural or manmade disasters to ensure the continuity of City operations and public safety.

Frequent use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment is required, and the role may involve repetitive motions such as typing and data entry. Work is performed in a typical office environment and may include exposure to common workplace-related risks.
