JOB SUMMARY:
The Village of Surfside Beach seeks a highly ethical, highly dependable, and highly motivated individual to serve as a Customer Service Representative for the City. This position serves as a primary point of contact for residents, property owners, visitors, vendors, and others conducting business with the Village. Under the direction of the Finance Director, performs basic office clerical and administrative support functions for City staff. The role includes a variety of duties involved maintaining the City Website and supporting the City's professional planning needs. The successful applicant is required to work well with all Department Heads, Mayor and City Council, and City Secretary.
PRIMARY DUTY 1.
Strong communication and customer service skills. 2. Provides customer service, information and assistance to visitors, vendors and others conducting business with the city. 3. Basic computer and Microsoft Office proficiency. 4. Responds to routine questions regarding City services, applications, fees, procedures, facilities, and departmental processes within the scope of the position and authority. 5. Assists customers with requests for rental of Stahlman Park Convention Center with reservations, applications, payment, deposits, and scheduling. 6. Assist and respond to questions and inquiries regarding ordinances, city regulations, beach rules, departmental policies, and city codes/standards information. 7. Receives, routes, and document customers, vendors and residents' concerns and complaints, in person, by telephone, email and in writing. (Does response the complaints, direct to correct department). 8. Receives and processes payments for utilities, facility rentals, permits, applications, and other City services; issues receipts and maintains accurate transaction records. 9. Maintains requests for rentals of the beach's Mobi-Chairs, including reservation log reports, deposits, and repair maintenance logs. 10. Coordinates the Village's Mobi-Chair beach accessibility program, including equipment and usage records, and completion of required GLO Beach Accessibility Progress Reports. 11. Assists utility customers with basic account, billing, payment, and service questions and refers matters requiring additional review or authorization to the appropriate department. 12. Answer incoming telephone calls and direct the caller to the correct department, city committee groups and/or take and relays messages as appropriate; coordinate and schedules meetings and appointments as requested. 13. Assists with maintaining and updating forms, city notices, departmental information, and other public-facing information on the Village of Surfside Beach's website as assigned. 14. Assist the Tourism Department with daily operations and coordinate special community events. 15. Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings. 16. Maintains inventory of office supplies. 17. Provides general clerical and administrative support to Department Directors, including copying, scanning, printing, scheduling, data entry, mailouts, and preparation of materials. 18. Provides assistance to the various city committees with general clerical and administrative support to include copying, scanning, printing, scheduling council room, other city facilities, and preparation of materials. 19. Supports the relationship between the Village of Surfside Beach and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information. 20. Responsible for maintaining the City's website and graphic design content as needed and assisting with social media management and writing projects. 21. Perform other duties and special projects, as required.

Knowledge of cash handling procedures. 23. Ability to assist in the preparation of comprehensive reports; ability to conduct assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, city officials, and the public. 24. A willingness to expend extra effort to help the public find answers or information relative to their inquiry or complaint is expected. 25. Requires frequent use of computers, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. 26. Knowledge of Texas public records retention requirements and the ability to maintain audit-ready documentation. 27. Responsible for the Town's website and graphic design; assists with social media and writing projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION 28.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; experience with database management software preferred. 29. High School Diploma or GED from an accredited education agency required. 30. Valid Class C Texas State Driver's License required. 31. Three (3) years of experience in the customer service field and general office procedures. 32. Three (3) years of experience in communications, preferably in a municipality. 33. Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred.
Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
