Job Description

The City of Burien is seeking customer-focused individuals to join our team as part-time, intermittent Facility Attendants. This weekend role is ideal for those who enjoy working in small collaborative teams and can anticipate and respond to customer needs. Our ideal candidates are proactive, adaptable, and excited to serve and support a diverse community in a welcoming environment. Nature of Work The Customer Service Representative I is responsible for the supervision, upkeep, and successful completion of rental facilities, including, but not limited to, preparing facilities for use; monitoring rentals and enforcing rules to ensure they are safe, proper, and appropriate; and providing information and assistance to the general public.
Schedule Hours:
0- 19 hours per week, depending on when rentals are scheduled at the Burien Community Center.
Weekend & Shift Availability Requirements:
Candidates must be available to work weekends. Open availability for evening hours and closing shifts is required. Flexibility to work varying shift times, including late evenings, is essential to meet the needs of the job. Essential Functions Support and model the identified vision, values and behaviors of the organization. Open and close Burien Community Center facilities. Prepare facilities for use, including but not limited to the setup of tables, chairs, other furniture, and equipment; resituate facilities after use; remove and store furniture, equipment, materials, and other supplies; perform light custodial work as needed. Monitor activities within the facility to maintain a safe, proper, and appropriate environment. Identify injury and accident situations and contact appropriate emergency services (911) when needed. Implement and enforce department policies, including all aspects of rental agreements. Inspect facility and report maintenance and repairs needed. Receive and direct visitors; answer participant inquiries and provide information concerning recreation programs and schedules; receive and resolve customer complaints and problems. If unable to respond, direct individuals to the appropriate person. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Abilities The position requires continuous standing, walking, feeling, talking, seeing, and hearing; frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, and repetitive foot motions; occasional stooping, sitting, handling, and repetitive finger, hand, and wrist motions; and rare crawling, kneeling, and climbing. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor participant safety and follow verbal instructions is required. Incumbent must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 25 pounds. Education and/or Experience One year of work experience in a similar customer service role is desired. Special Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older. Successful completion of pre-employment background check. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred. Job Conditions The Facility Attendant works directly with facility users at the Burien Community Center. A high degree of physical mobility is required to set up and rearrange room equipment. A flexible schedule is required. Work is primarily during evening and weekend hours. This position requires employees to remain on-site for the entire scheduled shift, including meal and rest periods, to ensure continuous facility coverage and maintain safety standards. Hazards May have contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals. Staff must be able to respond promptly to facility needs at all time while on duty.
