Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Assistant Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between our customers and the service department, ensuring that all service needs are accurately communicated and met. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication skills to provide exceptional customer service while upselling necessary services. Responsibilities Greet customers upon arrival and assess their automotive service needs. Document customer concerns and relay information to technicians for accurate diagnosis. Provide detailed estimates for repairs and services, explaining the necessity of each service. Upsell additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and service history. Follow up with customers regarding their vehicle status and ensure satisfaction upon service completion. Collaborate with technicians to ensure timely completion of services. Stay updated on automotive technology, trends, and best practices in service writing. Qualifications Proven experience in automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge is essential. Strong sales skills with a focus on upselling services. Familiarity with air brake systems, diesel engine repair, brake repair, and oil change procedures is preferred. Previous experience in service writing or as a mechanic is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
