Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Operations Director, the Dance Director is responsible for the coordination and operation of the YMCA's Dance programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program development, administration, and oversight of the Dance Center in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Westport Weston Family YMCA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expand youth dance programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Work a schedule that includes a minimum of 10-15 teaching hours per week in skills-based and performance classes. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise staff as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance and develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Develop and manage the department budget. Ensure programs operate within enrollment and budget goals, maintain member satisfaction, and ensure revenue, expenses, and fee collection align with budget expectations. Develop and administer new revenue-generating programs and create at least one recital annually connected to the Dance Center. Attend a minimum of two training workshops or conferences per year. Monitor and purchase necessary dance equipment and supplies. Organize and conduct staff trainings and meetings. Schedule practices and performances. Develop rules and guidelines for Company members. Hold parent meetings for all performance families at least once per season. Purchase and distribute Company costumes and coordinate team photographs. Organize and host seasonal parties, student events, and family events. Organize and conduct dance workshops. Support publicity efforts and develop a strong social media presence for all Dance programs. Assist with marketing and distribution of program information. Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Compile program statistics and monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and participation using session surveys. Complete Child Abuse Prevention training annually and report any suspected cases of child abuse immediately to a supervisor. Qualifications (Include education, years' experience and technical requirements if needed) Associates Degree required; BS/BA in early childhood, dance education or related field or equivalent work experience preferred. Proven record of competitive dance instruction. Minimum of 5 years teaching a variety of dance classes required. Three or more years of general management experience in youth and adult programing. Minimum of three years managing staff. Basic computer skills are essential. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Excel CPR, AED, First Aid (within 45 days of hire). Pay:
$33.00 - $40.00 per hour
