Job Description:

Data & AI Engineer (AWS + GenAI) Chicago, IL Full time, direct hire Contact mnugent@forbestc.com We're partnering with a leading organization to hire a Data & AI Engineer to work on modern data platforms and next-generation AI solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable systems and working with AWS and Generative AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

Build and optimize data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses Develop and deploy machine learning and Generative AI solutions Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders on data-driven initiatives Create scalable, reusable data solutions for ongoing and future projects Stay current with AWS services and emerging GenAI trends

Required Skills:

3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or ML/AI (with exposure to both) Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets Programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS preferred) Familiarity with Git-based workflows Understanding of data modeling and governance concepts Bachelor's degree preferred Cloud or data certifications are a plus (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Generative AI / LLMs (RAG, LangChain, etc.) Tools like Airflow, dbt, Glue, or Fivetran ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform Streaming tools (Kafka, Spark, Kinesis) Data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) Visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight) Strong communication and client-facing skills Additional Info Bachelor's degree preferred Cloud or data certifications are a plus (or willingness to obtain)
