The New York Athletic Club, one of the world's premier clubs, is seeking a Day Camp Aquatics Director at the Travers Island property located in Pelham, NY. The candidate for this position will be a part of the Winged Foot Day Camp team and will oversee the day camp aquatics staff and daily functions. The Winged Foot Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for children of members to gain a full camp experience, take advantage of the world class facilities at Travers Island, and create memories to last a lifetime. Campers will participate in several sports, creative arts, theme days, and off campus field trips

Job Description and Responsibilities :

Establish and oversee all swimming activities at the Travers Island pool Supervise all staff and campers participating in swim activities Manage daily operations of the aquatics staff including the camp's lifeguards and swim instructors Oversee and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the aquatics facility at Travers Island Respond to bathing facility emergencies Implement and oversee the buddy system Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, guests as well as staff including the Club's Aquatic Director Ensure pool safety procedures are strictly adhered to by lifeguards and instructors Must be on site Attend pre-camp training in May and June 2026

Qualifications :

Minimum one season experience as a Camp Aquatics Director at a NYS camp; or two seasons experience consisting of at least twelve weeks as children's camp lifeguard at a pool or beach; or eighteen weeks of previous experience as a lifeguard at a pool or beach Must be at least 21 years old Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification Pass NYS and national background check Transportation to and from Travers Island required 40 hours per week during June-August 2026 Excellent communication skills and ability to work on a team Possess effective customer service skills Demonstrate responsible and professional conduct Be open to feedback and desire to grow professionally Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately`
