Sasakawa USA is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to deepening the understanding of and strengthening the relationship between the U.S. and Japan for the benefit of a free and open international community. Its activities mainly focus on security and diplomacy, through exchanges, dialogue, analysis, publications, and networking. We are seeking a full-time, mission-driven professional to join our Administrative team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the nexus of organizational management and international engagement, helping ensure the smooth operations that underpin our high-impact programming. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to projects that foster U.S.-Japan understanding. Provide effective administrative support that keeps the organization's operations and programs on track.​ Liaise with guests, vendors and partners to maintain effective relationships and smooth workflows. Support on/offboarding of staff, fellows, and interns with care and attention to detail. Support in tracking grants, expenses, and payments to enable sound fiscal reporting. Facilitate cross‑departmental communication to ensure efficient office coordination. In addition, you may also be asked to assist on other projects such as supporting the President, as the Foundation deems necessary from time to time. Demonstrated professional experience. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in professional settings. Appreciation of/interest in Japan and its culture as well as our mission. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a steady focus on accuracy.​ Ability and willingness to learn about grant management and the nuances of organizational budget structures. Analytical skills and comfort working with IT technologies such as Zoom, Office 365, Outlook. Work effectively within team guidelines while taking proactive measures when needed.​ Familiarity with databases or a demonstrated ability to develop effective data systems. High level of professionalism in the workplace, including reliability, punctuality, sound judgment, respectful communication, and discretion when working with confidential or sensitive information. Capacity to manage multiple priorities while maintaining teamwork and initiative. A collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to a mission-driven team.​ Undergraduate degree required. Japanese language proficiency is preferred. Working hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. Work is conducted in-person at Sasakawa USA's office in Washington, DC 20036. Occasional weeknight and/or weekend work is required (paid overtime). Salary is commensurate with work and academic experience. Health insurance coverage, a 401k plan, paid vacation, and sick leave are provided in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
