Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a vibrant school setting near the Nashville area! This is an onsite, full-time contract opportunity supporting a district with robust DHH programs, including specialized hubs for elementary and newly expanded middle school needs. Your expertise will create a more inclusive and accessible environment for students from Pre-K through high school. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with general educators and school staff to guide the educational journey for K-12 students with varying levels of hearing loss. Most services are consultative, adapting to the evolving needs of each student and classroom assignment. You'll become a trusted resource as you work across one or more schools, depending on district placement.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Valid Tennessee Department of Education Certification specific to Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction Recent, relevant experience serving deaf or hard of hearing students in K-12 settings highly preferred Willingness and ability to meet Tennessee fingerprinting and credentialing requirements Comfortable working full-time (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours/week) according to the school academic calendar Strong communication and consultation skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative services tailored to DHH students' IEPs and learning goals Support general educators with strategies and accommodations for inclusion Adapt materials and instructional approaches for accessibility based on individual student needs Travel to multiple assigned school sites within the district as needed
