Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Inspire and support K-12 students by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing during the 2026-2027 academic year. This rewarding contract position offers the opportunity to work in-person or virtually serving schools in beautiful Southern Oregon communities throughout Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, and Klamath counties. You'll collaborate with dedicated educational teams to create inclusive learning environments, ensuring students with hearing differences have the tools to thrive.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, ideally working in K-12 educational settings Strong understanding of instructional methods, assistive technologies, and language acquisition for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities preferred Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Comfortable providing services both in-person and virtually, adapting to the needs of students and districts
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction, consultation, and support for students with hearing impairments across multiple grade levels Assess student needs and progress, tailoring educational approaches accordingly Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with educators, interpreters, families, and related staff Provide resources and training to staff regarding best practices for inclusion and accessibility Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere where every student can build academic and social success
