To develop and implement an academic and behavioral program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each childEssential Functions:
To provide proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support students' academic and behavioral success, and social emotional development. Lead building level Behavioral Intervention and Support practices. Collaborate with Day Treatment Program Supervisor and Clinicians. Participate in building-wide equity initiatives. Supervision of in school detention/suspension program Serve as the liaison to the Alternative to Suspension Program located at Amherst Education Center. To provide for the safety, health and well-being of each student in any situation. To cultivate and maintain a positive atmosphere which encourages learning. To serve as a resource for students, staff, administration and parents. To coordinate, facilitate and implement intervention steps related to discipline and train staff on the process. To participate in various leadership meetings as indicated by administration. To assist in the coordination, implementation and supervision of school-sponsored events. To become informed about and to comply with the policies and regulations of the school division and of the local school board. To keep essential records necessary for the efficient operation of the school. To keep abreast of recent developments in education and to show evidence of continuing professional growth. To participate in the programmatic decision-making process of the school. To maintain a cooperative attitude toward all school personnel. To serve as a public relations agent for the school and the school system. To cooperate with approved community groups in matters related to the welfare of the students. To perform such duties as are necessary for the efficient and successful operation of the school system. To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee. Make reports to the principal relative to student injuries, hazardous or dangerous conditions prevailing where students are engaged in activities known or suspected child abuse, and other areas that normally concern the teacher and school officials. Other duties as apparent or assigned.Education and Job Experience:
Compensation will be based on degree and experience as described in the Amherst County Public School Teachers' Salary Scale ScheduleLicense/Endorsements:
Valid Virginia Teacher's License Endorsement in Administration and Supervision preferredContract Period:
11 monthsFLSA Status:
