Qualifications:
. This is an entry- level administration position. Candidate must hold an Administrative PEL Certificate with a proven track record of success in improving student learning and school climate. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and can demonstrate an effective level of skill in increasing student attendance, managing student behavior, and improving parental involvement. Working knowledge of Skyward and the Illinois State Board of Education IWAS and Student Information System (SIS) preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This position exercises supervisory responsibilities for staff, coaches, and support staff.Performance Responsibilities:
I nclude the following duties; however, other duties may be assigned. Assumes responsibility and instructional leadership for the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program Communicates with students, teachers, parents, and community members using a variety of media, including technology. Partners with teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction and individual teacher performance. Coordinates and promotes professional growth plans and opportunities for faculty and staff Coordinates athletic and activities programs Provides leadership and oversight for the instructional, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs Establishes, monitors, and evaluates school improvement goals as documented in the annual School Improvement Plan Establishes a culture of mutual respect and excellence through dialogue and relationships with staff, students, central office administrators, and community members Develops, monitors, and evaluates programs to enhance positive school culture and climate Building Management - In coordination with additional school and district administration Assist in building the Master Schedule and Staff Supervision Schedule Maintains the student handbook and building procedures Responsible for student management, attendance, and discipline Responsible for supervising/facilitating committees Coordinates building-level crisis plan Responsible for overseeing the Athletic Program, school activities, and events, which include scheduling, coaches' meetings, compliance with IESA regulations, purchasing, uniform inventory, etc. Student Management Be visible during supervision times, both AM (morning entry) and PM (afternoon dismissal) Be visible during student lunch periods and between class periods in an effort to proactively problem-solve Effectively implement PBIS (to include teacher training) Successfully resolve matters related to student discipline Develop school-wide incentive programs using PBIS Monitor and improve student attendance Facilitate Attendance Committee Work collaboratively with the Parent Advisory Committee on student handbook updates and attendance policies Develop a process for determining appropriate disciplinary actions Inform parents of students' disciplinary status in a timely manner Record behaviors into SIS/Skyward Work with PBIS, MTSS, and Problem Solving Committees, as well as the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, to significantly reduce the number of student referrals Work with teachers to develop effective classroom management strategies Work closely with the Principal and Assistant Principal to suggest policy recommendations to the Superintendent regarding student disciplinary procedures Parental Involvement Work collaboratively with the Principal and the Assistant Principal in re-establishing parental involvement Work with building and district administrators to develop a parental involvement action plan for Fairmont School District 89 (to include measurable goals and objectives) Personnel Work with the Principal, the Assistant Principal, and the Superintendent in interviewing new staff members Observe and evaluate staff members Monitor classroom teachers Conduct Classroom walkthroughs Promote a professional learning community Encourage and provide appropriate professional development for teachers Monitor teachers, teacher aides, and interventionists who are responsible for supervising students Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principal on the facilitation of new substitute orientation Curriculum and Technology Work with the Principal and Assistant Principal on the administration of all testing programs at the school (IAR, MAP, Progress Monitoring tools, etc.) Assist with the collection and dissemination of scores to staff, students, and parents Work with the Principal and Assistant Principal to develop a professional learning community that promotes constant growth throughout the staff Assist the Principal, Assistant Principal, and teacher with horizontal and vertical articulation and curricular alignment Works with teachers and parents to implement student interventions through MTSS Work collaboratively with the staff and outside agencies to improve curriculum, best practices, and teaching strategies Encourage professional growth amongst the staff Work with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and staff to select, pilot, or adopt textbooks and other materials needed to enhance instruction and improve student learning Work with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and technology support persons, and other staff members to continuously make changes and updates to the district website Communication Work closely with the Principal and Assistant Principal to create open lines of communication with the staff, parents, and community Attend all regular Board of Education meetings to stay informed of significant topics impacting the school, district, and community Be prepared to make presentations to the Board of Education as deemed appropriate Work closely with the Principal and Assistant Principal to identify age-appropriate assembly options and other school activities for students and staff Inform the Principal of any serious student infractions, parent issues, or emergencies in a reasonable amount of time Athletic Director Collaborate with the Principal and Handbook Committee in developing the athletic handbook Post open coaching positions as deemed necessary Prepare coaches' contracts for positions held Facilitate coach and parents' meetings before each sports season Work with coaches on try-out and game schedules. Provide schedules to parents and administration Update coaches and student rosters in the IESA platform to ensure compliance Become familiar with policies and ensure appropriate training for all coaches Work with the Principal and District Office for all inventory needs and dues Submit all information to ensure timely pay for all coaches and workers Other duties as deemed necessaryPhysical Requirements:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. The Athletic Director position is a stipend position within the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is in addition to the Dean's Base Salary - $6,240 for the 2026-27 school year. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the Fairmont School District 89 Board of Education. - 190 days (5 days before and after the school year; 8:00 am-3:00 pm, unless supervising games or attending meetings as deemed mandatory. First day of employment is Monday, August 10, 2026.Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Fairmont School District 89 Board of Education policy on the evaluation of personnel.Additional Information:
