Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and a passion for providing outstanding patient service. As a Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering a welcoming environment for all patients. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Verify insurance coverage and benefits using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth to facilitate accurate billing. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting payments and updating medical records. Assist with insurance claims processing, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain organized filing of dental records, medical records, and other administrative documents in accordance with health information management standards. Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and respond promptly to patient inquiries. Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and managing medical documentation accurately. Perform general clerical duties such as data entry, typing, filing, and using Microsoft Office applications to support daily operations. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations related to patient confidentiality and privacy standards. Qualifications Proven experience in a dental office or medical administrative support role with familiarity in dental terminology and clinic procedures. Strong knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms. Experience with insurance verification, medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD), and Medicare/Medicaid processes. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and office management software like Meditech or oEpic. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members; bilingual skills are a plus. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards. Prior experience in a dental clinic environment or hospital setting is highly desirable. Strong customer service orientation combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical expertise.
