Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic municipal team as a Deputy City Clerk, a vital role dedicated to ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and security of city records and official documents. In this energetic position, you will support the City Clerk's office by managing a wide array of administrative and records management functions. Your proactive approach will help uphold transparency, compliance, and efficient information governance across city departments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to local government operations while honing your expertise in document management systems, archival standards, and organizational excellence. Responsibilities
- Prepares and processes city payroll.
- Prepares and processes payment of bills and recording such payments.
- Performs bank reconciliation.
- Answers and directs incoming telephone calls.
- Performs general clerical duties including typing, filing, and photocopying.
- Greets and assists the general public.
- Follows department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
- Assists in issuing licenses. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED. A technical degree or some college credit in computers science or accounting preferred.
- One (1) year of similar or related experience.
- CMC must be obtained with seven (7) years of employment.
- Must possess the ability to perform clerical skills and office procedures.
- Must demonstrate requisite computer skills with advanced knowledge of various computer systems, telephone systems and other office equipment.
- Must possess the ability to type with speed and accuracy.
- Must possess the ability to interpret data, ordinances, agendas and other written instructions.
- Must demonstrate advanced organizational, public relations, organizational oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and professionally through both verbal and written skills with customers in English.
- Must possess the ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Must possess the ability to pay close attention to detail and to make reliable and prompt decisions using available information.
- Must possess the ability to effectively work with both staff and citizens.
- Must demonstrate good work habits, maintain a professional appearance and attitude and follow policies and procedures.
- Must project a friendly, courteous, patient and professional image at all times, even under adverse conditions.
- Must demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
Pay:
$31,000.00 - $35,500.00 per yearBenefits:
