Beltrami County is creating an eligibility list for two full-time, benefited Deputy Sheriffs to perform intermediate protective service work enforcing laws, investigating criminal activity, serving civil papers, ensuring safety of the public, testifying in court, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned supervisor.

Preferred hiring salary range is $35.92 to $39.24 per hour with a full range of $35.92 to $45.50 per hour. Placement depends on factors such as qualifications, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable policy guidelines.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Education and ExperienceMinimum requirements are: Associate's degree in law enforcement or a related field. OR A substitution of education and work experience may qualify in accordance with Minnesota Rules 6700.0700. ANDOne year or more of work experience in law enforcement or criminal justice. MN POST Licensed or POST Eligible upon hire - must submit POST eligibility letter prior to background check.

US citizenship and no felony convictions.

Valid MN driver's license.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Special RequirementsFirst Aid, First Responder, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, and Emergency Vehicle Operations certifications required upon hire.

Specialized training may be required for certain assignments.

Maintain MN POST License. Employment offer contingent upon successfully passing drug screening, background check, psychological and physical exam.
