Job Description
We are seeking a disciplined, strategic executive leader to serve as the Deputy Warden at Clarinda Correctional Facility (CCF). In this critical role, you will be primarily responsible for the facility's day-to-day security, treatment, investigation, and maintenance operations. You will supervise department leaders while maintaining the balance between modern security practices to operate a safe and secure facility, and the rehabilitative mission of a Clarinda Correctional Facility and the Iowa Department of Corrections. You will serve as second-in-command at CCF, act as the Public Information Officer, Liaison with Attorney General and Ombudsman's offices. This position will directly report to the Warden.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
Direct security, treatment, investigation, and maintenance activities, including perimeter, contraband interdiction, treatment programming, preventative maintenance programs, and emergency response coordination.Leadership & Development:
Supervise and mentor subordinate supervisors (Associate Wardens of Security/Treatment, and Plant Operations Manager). Conduct performance evaluations and oversee specialized training for staff.Incident Management:
Serve as the incident commander during emergencies.Policy Implementation:
Ensure that CCF Procedures are updated and maintained in accordance with IDOC policy.Resource Management:
Manage department to minimize overtime while maintaining current operations to ensure a safe and secure facility.Assessment:
Ensure regular internal security and treatment audits are conducted by subordinate leaders to stay ahead of potential threats and ensure the fidelity of treatment programs. Ensure preventative maintenance program is effectively implemented to prevent emergencies with the physical plant. For more information, please visit www.e-verify.gov Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, and experience equal to five years of full-time work in the management of a correctional, mental health, intellectual disability or juvenile correctional or training facility. Five years of full-time work experience as a Correctional Treatment Director, Correctional Security Director, or other equivalent management position in the Iowa Department of Corrections or Iowa Judicial District Departments of Correctional Services. Ten years of full time supervisory experience in the Iowa Department of Corrections or Iowa Judicial District Departments of Correctional Services. Five years of full time experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Treatment Services Director, Treatment Manager or other equivalent position in the Department of Human Services.
