Job Description

Location Sacred Heart School for the Arts Description Sacred Heart School for the Arts has been providing arts education to the Louisville community for more than 50 years. Founded by the Ursuline Sisters, SHSA is committed to creating and providing a culture of excellence in teaching that provides outstanding opportunities in visual arts, dance, music, and drama to students throughout the Kentuckiana area. SHSA is seeking a dynamic and passionate Visual Arts Teacher effective August 3, 2026, to inspire and educate students in the visual arts. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional artistic expertise with strong educational skills. The Visual Arts Instructor will be expected to plan and deliver age-appropriate visual arts lessons to students (Grades 1 - 5) in our after school program. Classes start at either 3:15 or 3:30. Develop and implement a diverse curriculum that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. Organize and prepare materials and supplies for each class and help maintain a clean and organized classroom space. Coordinate and participate in art exhibitions, showcases, and other events to display students' work. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students' progress and any classroom updates. Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance the overall program experience. The ideal candidate should be a person of high character, exceptional organizational skills, a love for the creative process, and a demonstrated passion for teaching. Previous experience teaching visual arts to children. Strong knowledge of various art techniques and mediums preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
