Everett, MA Job Details Part-time | Contract $35 - $40 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Collaboration Curriculum design Working with youth Full Job Description Art Lab Everett is seeking a Visual Arts Teaching Artist for 13 hours a week to work together with our Language Arts Teaching Artist in order to both create programming and teach workshops for youth in grades K-8. In addition you will be guiding and mentoring a group of young adults (ages 16-24). Workshops for K-8th grades: Students meet from 3-5pm for creative artmaking Monday through Wednesday. Themes are created in partnership with the Language Arts Teacher and each of you develop curriculum for your respective disciplines. You will be responsible for teaching one workshop a week in visual arts and a second workshop together with the Language Arts Specialist.
Listening Works Arts Apprentices:
The young adults meet Monday through Wednesday from 5pm - 7:30pm Through workshops, discussion, and hands-on making, you will mentor our paid arts apprentices as they develop ideas, experiment with materials, and produce a work that will be shared with the broader community. We are especially interested in artists who see themselves as mentors and collaborators , helping participants shape ideas rather than directing a predetermined outcome. The program is grounded in curiosity, care, and collaboration , encouraging young people to take creative risks while exploring their own artistic voices. The resulting artwork can take many forms—poetry-based installations, altered books, sculpture, mixed media, or other experimental approaches amplifying the participants' collective vision.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Language Arts Teaching Artist to integrate Visual Arts Learning with Language Arts Learning Design and oversee workshops for participants in grades K-8 Design and facilitate workshops for participants ages 16-24 Introduce artistic processes and techniques relevant to each project Support skill-building, idea generation, and creative problem-solving Guide the young adult group through planning, creating, and presenting a site-specific artwork Collaborate with administrative staff on materials, logistics, and timeline Participate in documentation or public sharing of the work This position is for both our Art After School and our Listening Works Youth Development and Arts Apprenticeship Program.
