Job Description
Primordial Soup is an AI-native storytelling studio. We create original films, series, and emerging forms of cinematic storytelling while building the creative tools that make them possible. Working at the intersection of technology, filmmaking, and culture, we partner with leading AI labs, studios, brands, and creators to redefine how stories are imagined and made. The Role You are at home crafting stylized animation and building photo-real, cinematic environments that feel like they've always existed. Someone who understands that world-building isn't just a visual exercise, it's a narrative one. You will work directly with Directors and Production to develop imaginative worlds, characters, and sequences using generative tools — while ensuring that every frame feels intentional, cinematic, and alive. You bring the taste along with a collaborative and experimental energy. What You'll Do Collaborate closely with directors and producers to turn a shared vision into generated imagery Develop and iterate on AI-generated characters, environments, and sequences that serve a larger narrative Own the generative layer of our hybrid production pipeline, from concept to final output Maintain aesthetic consistency and world coherence across long-form features and episodic work Experiment with emerging tools and techniques — and know when not to use them Thrive across a wide range of formats — from quick-turn social content to long-form feature work and everything in between Move fast without losing craft — we operate on real production timelines, and speed matters as much as quality What We're Looking For Required A portfolio that demonstrates genuine storytelling — not just impressive renders, but work that has arc, emotion, and point of view Deep, hands-on fluency with current generative AI tools (Veo, Runway, Seedance, Kling, Luma, Comfy, Higgsfield or similar) The ability to hold a visual world together across many shots, scenes, or episodes — with consistent tone, character, and logic A restless relationship with tools, pushing existing ones to their limits and imagining what doesn't exist yet Collaborative instincts and comfort working with a cast of creative teammates; directors, editors, producers, and clients — each with their own language and vision Excellent communication and the ability to move between big-picture vision and pixel-level execution Strongly Preferred A background in VFX, filmmaking, or other storytelling formats — real world production experience and pipeline fluency is a genuine advantage Experience with a variety of narrative styles (ie: animation, photo-realistic, 3D, etc…) Familiarity with cinematic grammar: lighting, framing, camera language, editorial pacing Experience delivering work for film festivals, broadcast, streaming, or editorial platforms Engagement Details We're based in New York but work with distributed talent.
