This is a great, fun opportunity for a continuing student or college graduate with an art, general liberal arts or communications major who is highly organized. I have a Covid-safe studio attached to my house. Web skills a plus. You also have your own desk in my art office which is more than 6' away from mine. I provide endless cups of tea and sometimes a homemade baked good. I am a retired art professor who now works full time in the studio and writes articles about art for several journals. www.cynthiakukla.com Tasks for an assistant includes: Inventory art work, paints, supplies and place orders for materials and frames. Prepare press materials for upcoming exhibitions - hard copy and digital. There will be a fair amount of computer work. Much of this is very detail-oriented. All the behind the scenes work we never hear about! 1. Work to update and consolidate files and artwork inventory, both physical and digital. 2. Update my website. Knowledge of Word Press helpful but not essential. 3. Assist with finalizing and sending articles and residency and grant applications I write. Will require loading data and jpegs onto various online applications. 4. Help pack art work to be shipped to exhibits. Also for local exhibits you would help deliver and help install the artwork. Also deinstall of course.

I always have two assistants so I customize what you will do based on what you like to do and what you are good at doing. 1. Are you good at reading? Can you scan (look at) documents quickly to find what we are looking for like upcoming grant opportunities or info for an article I am writing? 2. Are you good at math? Can you measure framed art for labels for exhibits or for checklists for exhibits? Can you do price comparisons? 3. Help organize my office journals. This requires reading and organizing categories. We also upload info to Google docs. 4. Do you like to keep tabs on deadlines? 5. Do you like to do library research either online or to go get books? 6. Do you know how to use a Cricut? (Or do you have friends who have one that you can experiment on to learn it? Cricut requires interface between a computer file and the Cricut machine which we use in the art office to cut shapes for art projects.) Thanks for applying!
