Under the direction of the Owner, the person in this role has 3+ years of progressive experience working with audio, visual, touch and/or voice equipment, including our core brand Lutron. The A/V Tech is confident in their knowledge and skills to independently and accurately install a variety of solutions for customers including gates, security systems, window treatments, CCTV, etc. The A/V tech will be able to read and markup construction plans, create pre-wire layouts, configure and troubleshoot automation systems, and support the sales and proposal process while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Essential Functions, Accountabilities, and Responsibilities Field Operations:
Install, repair, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot a variety of residential controls and automation system integrations including lighting, security, window treatments, gate access, etc. with oversight/direction provided by Owner or Managers. Collaborate with site Foreman to ensure accurate and effective pre-wiring plan. Perform pre-wire, trim out, and finish stages of custom residential installations. Cultivate and manage strong client and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Program and configure Lutron/Control4 systems; build and maintain strong working knowledge of Lutron/Control4 technology and compatibility. Build, organize, test, and troubleshoot residential home network configurations to ensure reliable functionality. Regularly utilize basic hand tools required to perform installations of equipment including screwdrivers, tape measures, cordless drill, etc. Serve as in-house audio/visual expert for both internal teams and customers. Ensure job site(s) are kept clean and orderly throughout the workday. Ensure adherence to all company and OSHA safety protocols and standards. Take pride in keeping company owned tools organized, tracked, and accounted for on job site(s). Ensure company assigned vehicle is stocked, maintained, and held to company cleanliness standards at all times.
Project Management:
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and/or technical documents to complete control system installations accurately and efficiently; mark up construction plans to overlay audio/visual pre-wire plans. Consult with the Owner, Project Operations Manager, and Foreman on specialty products and designs; perform research as needed to ensure compatibility. Conceptualize component interactions and installation environments to ensure desired functionality prior to physical installation. Identify and communicate changes of scope made by contractors, designers, homeowners, etc. Support the sales process; contribute to development of comprehensive project bids and proposals. Understand, track, assign, and execute change orders upon request. Collaborate with Owner, Project Operations Manager, Foreman and Office Coordinator on job scheduling; identify resources needed based on skill level and training needs to execute the project according to timeline. Collaborate with Owner, Project Operations Manager, Foreman and Office Coordinator on budget and job costing for projects; maintain visibility and identify when scope creep and/or limits are approaching.
Leadership:
Contribute to rollout of workplace culture initiatives to drive engagement. Actively demonstrate a "can-do" attitude; inspire others to perform above the status quo. Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders from partner agencies including GC's, PM's, and Superintendents. Communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, and project leaders to ensure clear expectations and timely execution. Lead and mentor Apprentices, fostering a learning environment built on respect, accountability, and continuous improvement. Actively redirect behaviors and praise the actions of team members to align with company values and behaviors; participate in performance management discussions. Continuously learn from and accept coaching and/or feedback from Owner, Project Operations Manager, and Foreman to advance industry knowledge, apply new skills and techniques, and increase speed and efficiency; share knowledge with others. Minimum Essential Requirements (education, experience, specialized skills, licenses, certifications) Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. If operating a company vehicle, must have a valid driver's license; ability to be insured on company policy; safely operate a motor vehicle in various weather conditions including snow and ice. OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). 3+ years progressive experience with designing, programming, and configuring advanced home systems. Strong knowledge of electronic componentry, network architecture, and programming methods typical of home automation, theater, distributed audio and A/V system installations. Ability to implement processes and tools as needed; follow manufacturer instructions, industry standards and building codes for standard and low voltage system installations. Demonstrated experience in project management including requirements gathering, planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Comfortable working with hand and power tools and complex system programming. Ability to read plans and diagrams; know and teach technicians how to complete complex installation tasks. Ability to use applicable equipment and instruments. Ability to operate with enthusiasm, and a positive, proactive "no-job-is-below-me" attitude. Ability to exercise good judgment regarding project related decisions. Ability to learn and adapt to new software, systems, and processes.
