An Audio or Visual Technician operates sound and video equipment for concerts, sports events, news conferences or presentations at business meetings or conventions. Sets up wiring and cables as needed for an equipment system, which may include microphones, speakers, sound mixing and recording equipment and video equipment; may also work with specialized lighting equipment.
Full-Time Kercom Home Services is seeking an experienced Audio Visual / Low-Voltage Install Technician to join our residential installation team. This is a hands-on field position working in customers' homes throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Our technicians handle a wide range of residential technology installations, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting problems, and completing clean, professional work. This position also involves regular travel throughout the workday . Technicians may begin at the company yard, travel to a customer location, and then continue to additional job sites throughout CT, RI, and MA. Applicants must be comfortable with frequent driving and changing work locations. What You'll Be Doing You may work on a variety of residential projects, including: TV mounting and display installation Soundbars, speakers, surround sound, and home theater systems Audio/video equipment installation and setup Low-voltage wiring and cable runs Concealing and routing wires through walls Network and Wi-Fi equipment installation Security camera installation Smart-home equipment installation Troubleshooting existing wiring and equipment Testing completed systems to make sure everything operates correctly Explaining basic system operation to customers Maintaining a clean and organized work area Protecting customer walls, floors, furniture, and property during installations Experience Required This is not an entry-level position . Applicants must have previous hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: Audio/video installation Low-voltage wiring Cable or telecom installation Home theater installation Networking and Wi-Fi Security cameras Smart-home systems Residential technology installation You should be comfortable using hand tools and power tools, running and terminating cable, troubleshooting installation problems, and working inside finished residential homes. Requirements Previous audio/video or low-voltage installation experience Valid driver's license Ability and willingness to travel throughout CT, RI, and MA Comfortable driving between multiple job sites during the workday Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently Professional appearance and communication Good customer-service skills Ability to safely lift and mount TVs and related equipment Ability to use ladders and common installation tools Dependable and able to follow daily schedules and job assignments Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts low-voltage license is a plus Schedule Monday through Friday Typical working hours are 8:00 AM-5:00 PM . Daily schedules and locations may vary depending on customer appointments and project requirements.
