They will also supervise the placement of professional video cameras (camera blocking), graphics, projectors, screens, LED walls, and the overall look of the production. Before the show, a video tech will 1) assist with production planning and consulting on show details and how they are to be presented, 2) ensure all equipment is in place and that technical checks have been completed, 3) brief all assigned operators for various details, and 4) coordinate and execute rehearsals. During the show, the video tech will 1) maintain constant communication with camera operators and other staff, 2) provide cues, timing and other information to maintain the show's schedule, 3) preside over the switching between the show's elements, and 4) prepare for upcoming parts of the show. The Video Tech also shares in the load-in and out responsibility, ensuring that video, lighting and audio equipment is checked properly and in good working order prior to each show, as well as protected and loaded properly for safe and secure transportation. Qualifications A Video Tech must present a professional and positive image at all times with a desire to exceed clients' expectations. It requires a high level of maturity, confidence and competence. Strong leadership skills along with solid technical experience is a winning combination, enabling the ability to work independently, if necessary. Significant experience with audio visual equipment used in the live events industry is a must, including working knowledge of all of the floor staff positions (camera, sound, lighting, etc.) A sense of timing and continuity is absolutely critical, along with a good sense of space and distance when referencing the timing of movement. The Video Tech must be able to work well under stress with a strong ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and confidently. S/he must have excellent interpersonal skills and act with diplomacy at all times. Qualified candidates must be able to transport, assemble, maintain and repair equipment used in multimedia production, and possess exceptional knowledge of camera and lighting techniques. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Two (2) years post-high school education pertaining to the operation of technical equipment or equivalent Proven record of demonstrating accuracy, follow-through under minimal supervision, ability to follow instructions and solve problems Capable of performing under stress, particularly when unanticipated problems occur or unscheduled assignments arise Flexibility and stamina to work long hours required to meet deadlines and a demanding show schedule, including nights and weekends Working knowledge of video switchers, digital recorders, professional cameras, projectors, etc. Must have reliable transportation to work as well as a valid driver's license Ability to drive box truck and vans Must have working knowledge of scaling, mapping, and formatting equipment; projectors, TVs, video walls, etc. Physical Demands Ability to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers- PRI Productions is a Drug-Free Workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
