Dr. Jalal Ghaemghami Position Summary The Audio Visual Production Assistant supports EAB outreach and student-engagement initiatives through hands-on audio visual production support. The position provides students with applied experience using production technology, supporting digital and presentation projects, collaborating with a team, and developing career-relevant skills in communications and creative industries. Federal Work-Study Responsibilities Prepare, organize, transport, and inventory approved audio-visual materials and equipment for on-campus activities. Assist staff with basic room setup and breakdown, cable organization, and equipment staging. Maintain equipment checkout, inventory, and service-request records as directed. Provide routine administrative support for production schedules, files, and event documentation. Perform basic, supervisor-approved equipment checks and report malfunctions to professional staff. Do not independently operate specialized productions, approve technical changes, or supervise events. Federal Work-Study Eligibility Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year. Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements. Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work. Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications Familiarity with or demonstrated interest in audio visual or media production technology. Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and reliability. Ability to learn and use production equipment, software, and digital tools. Ability to follow instructions, equipment procedures, and project deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with audio, video, photography, editing, recording, presentation, or related production technology. Experience supporting events, workshops, outreach, communications, or digital content projects. Coursework or career interest in communications, media, creative industries, technology, or a related field.
Additional Information:
Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding. FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties. Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits. Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process. Student Learning & Professional Development Outcomes By successfully completing this position, the student should strengthen their ability to: Use audio visual production technology and systems within the scope of their training. Support career-relevant production projects and deliverables. Communicate and collaborate effectively within a professional team. Organize production materials, equipment, files, and assigned tasks. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, problem-solving, and accountability. Supervision & Performance The Audio-Visual Production Assistant reports to Dr. Jalal Ghaemghami. Students will receive appropriate training, regular supervision, performance feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Students may work up to 18.5 hours per week during the academic semester and should establish schedules around their academic commitments and approved department needs. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process. Advancement Students who demonstrate strong technical proficiency, reliability, project ownership, and peer leadership may become candidates for Level III Audio Visual Production Lead or other advanced creative-industry positions.
