This position is responsible for maintaining audio infrastructure for 5 broadcast video studios, 2 audio studios, and several event venues, as well as working in a production capacity in these and other spaces. A candidate needs to be able to work with Dante, NDI and other AV networking protocols, and have technical studio knowledge, organizational skills, communication skills, dependability, and the ability to quickly assess and correct issues. The position will work closely with the Video Studios Manager to ensure all facilities within LAITS are operational for productions, and any audio issues are resolved immediately. This position will assist the LAITS field crew with the planning and implementing of solutions for events. This role will also assist with the upskilling of junior and student audio engineers. Responsibilities Oversee the operation of studio and field audio production needs. Works as lead audio engineer on studio and location productions, including preproduction, planning and implementation. Mix and master productions in post-production as needed Project manage A/V productions and facilitate client communication and satisfaction, including estimates, planning, scheduling, and invoicing Research, manage, implement, and maintain audio technology for all studios in LAITS Assists with the continued development and implementation of studio and field-based production processes, workflows, documentation, and scheduling Provide training on all aspects of audio production and technology for Student Technology Assistants Maintain studio infrastructure and equipment inventory, diagnose problems, troubleshoot solutions, and ensure all studios are running as intended daily Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications 2 years of professional experience in the field of audio. 2 years of experience working in audio studios, broadcast studios, or similar environment Strong knowledge of audio equipment, including mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, and peripherals Strong client communication skills. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Experience with AoIP technology. Ability to demonstrate a strong team-oriented approach, fostering collaboration and effective communication with colleagues across various departments Working knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to event production and production-related equipment. Proficiency in collaborative tools, including Slack, Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom Experience in setting goals, supervising projects, and making deadlines. Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related field. Level 3 Dante certification. 2+ years of experience in live video broadcast, and the operation of audio or video production equipment. 2+ years of professional experience using Dante, NDI, or AVB networking protocols. 2+ years of professional experience using Yamaha digital mixers. 2+ years of running live audio in large venues. 2+ years of record-keeping, for av gear. 2+ years of experience creating estimates and invoicing for av work. Strong experience managing A/V network gear. Ability to inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs on gear. Experience in audio production for online education and online courses. Broad knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound, and editing. Strong knowledge of production techniques, including videography, compression and file delivery, and other production formats. Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative workarounds if necessary. Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as part of a team or crew. Experience with live production, film sets, or in studio work. Proven ability to lead a team. Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience. Proven ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills in both Mac and Windows environments. Experience overseeing or training student audio engineers. Working knowledge of Workday, Slack, Air Table and Harvest. Experience working with UT Austin event teams. Experience working in a university setting. Valid Texas driver's license. Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Salary Range $51,000+ Depending on Qualifications Working Conditions Environmental Demands Work location is on the UT Main Campus. Off-campus work may be required.
