WHAT YOU'LL DO
The AV Technician (Level 2) performs hands-on installation and integration tasks across a wide variety of AV projects. This role may also lead small installation crews, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within scope, and to AVTG standards. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage AV cabling (CAT, HDMI, audio, control lines, and fiber). Mount, connect, and commission AV systems including displays, speakers, DSPs, cameras, projectors, microphones, and control processors. Perform rack fabrication, wiring, cable management, and equipment layout according to AVTG standards. Conduct on-site surveys and resolve installation needs, conflicts, or field-fit adjustments. Read and interpret construction blueprints, wiring diagrams, elevations, and signal flow drawings. Solder, crimp, and assemble connectors and AV interfaces using proper tooling. Test point-to-point cabling, system functionality, and assist engineers in system verification. Communicate daily with the Project Manager regarding progress, needs, delays, or site conditions. Coordinate with other trades (electrical, networking, contractors) to ensure smooth project flow. Oversee and support Level 1 Installers on basic tasks and ensure quality workmanship. Track, manage, and secure tools, materials, and equipment on site. Provide basic client training and act as an on-site customer liaison as directed. Travel between job sites across the Greater Houston area. Perform additional tasks as needed to support AVTG's evolving project requirements.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves 2-4 years of AV installation or related low-voltage field experience . Experience with cable terminations, mounting hardware, and AV system installation. Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system documentation. Strong communication, professionalism, and customer-facing skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safe work practices. Understanding of basic networking concepts as they relate to AV systems (IP devices, streaming, switches). Experience assisting with system commissioning or loading/testing control code. Ability to lead small site teams on straightforward projects. Experience working on active construction sites. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel to job sites and occasionally work non-standard hours depending on project needs. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders/lifts, and work in construction environments.
Preferred / Nice
-to-Haves CTS OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification (or the ability to obtain within 1 year). Experience working on active construction sites.
