Job Description

The Language Hub in the Department of Languages and Cultures is seeking a highly motivated self-starter in UVU's Deaf Studies program with skills in audio-video production. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. In addition to the required documents listed below, selected candidates will submit examples of audio-visual digital production. This position may fulfill the internship option of the Deaf Studies program.
Required Documents:
Resume Class Schedule Cover Letter References Transcript Assist lab manager in developing, executing, promoting, and maintaining various projects to enhance and carry out the vision and mission. Provide training, orientation, and assistance to students and faculty in creating a variety of audio-visual projects. Create, maintain, and organize tutorial guides, reports, promotional and marketing materials. Assist with daily operations, which may include the following: assist students, faculty, and tutors; open/close; light cleaning and general upkeep. Assist in promotional and cultural events. Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager. Current UVU student registered for a minimum of 6.0 credits. Native or near-native proficiency in ASL comprehension and production. Available to work 15 hours per week, during normal business hours (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) and some evening hours to be determined. Completion of
ASL 3000
(Technology for Deaf Studies), or equivalent experience. Mastery of academic and professional standards for filming ASL projects, such as SignLens. Ethical, responsible, and motivated self-starter. Interpersonal skills in providing high-quality customer service. Skills in problem-solving, time management, and ability to adhere to schedules and deadlines. Ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of standard techniques, equipment, software, maintenance, and file formats in audio-visual production. General computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.).
