Peru, Dixon, Kankakee Keep Northern Illinois Connected Shaw Local Radio is seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented Radio Broadcast Engineer to support and maintain our growing group of radio stations across Northern Illinois. This position is ideal for an experienced broadcast engineer who enjoys a variety of technical challenges, from RF systems and studio operations to IT networking and transmitter maintenance. Our radio properties include music, sports, and community-focused stations serving local audiences throughout Northern Illinois. About Shaw Media Shaw Media publishes over 150 titles in Illinois. As part of Shaw Media, we are committed to serving our communities with trusted local content across radio, digital, and print platforms. Responsibilities Maintain and troubleshoot
FM, AM, HD
Radio, and translator facilities Monitor and maintain transmitter sites, STL systems, and RF equipment Support studio equipment including consoles, automation systems, audio processors, codecs, and satellite receivers Manage broadcast IP networks, firewalls, switches, and wireless systems Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs Coordinate with tower crews, vendors, and regulatory agencies as needed Ensure FCC compliance and maintain required technical records Assist with facility upgrades, equipment installations, and technical projects Provide after-hours technical support on a rotating basis Qualifications Experience in broadcast engineering, telecommunications, IT networking, or a related technical field Working knowledge of radio transmission systems and studio operations preferred Familiarity with IP networking, routing, switching, VPNs, and remote access technologies. Ability to diagnose and repair electronic equipment Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel between station locations Ability to occasionally lift equipment and work at transmitter facilities Preferred Qualifications Prior radio or television broadcast engineering experience Knowledge of Wheatstone, WideOrbit, Marketron, ENCO, Burk, Nautel, GatesAir, or similar systems SBE certification FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) Experience with HD Radio and audio-over-IP systems What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Life and long-term disability insurance 401(k) with company match Paid vacation and holidays Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for station travel Opportunity to work with a growing local media organization serving communities across

Salary Range:
