Job Summary We are looking for a Studio Engineer to run our Miami studio solo, camera, audio, and lighting, on batch production days. This is a hands-on, freelance role for someone who has been the whole crew before and knows how to hold consistency across five episodes a day without losing quality or momentum. You will be responsible for building and breaking down the room, running all technical departments yourself, and delivering clean, organized, ready-to-cut media to our editorial team, often same day. Duties Confirm setup details with production ahead of each shoot day, including format, episode count, and any changes from prior batches Arrive early to build the room, light the set, and set cameras and audio before talent arrives Light for talent-forward, consistent interview and talking-head setups that cut together across episodes Set and match camera settings across bodies, and set audio via lav, boom, or both, checking levels on every source Run the full floor solo across a five-episode batch day, rolling, monitoring, adjusting, and resetting between episodes Flag and resolve problems in the moment so unusable takes get caught and reshot while talent is still present Handle wardrobe changes, backdrop swaps, and format shifts between episodes without losing light or levels Prioritize audio quality above all else on every take Break down and reset the space after the shoot, with gear cased and charged and returned to its place Offload and back up all footage, minimum two copies, before any card is formatted Organize and label files by episode for smooth hand-off to editors Deliver clean, complete, synced media the same day whenever possible Deliverables 5 episodes per day, batch recorded, with a consistent look and sound across all of them Clean, level audio that's usable on every take, backed up on a second source Properly exposed, in focus footage that's matched between cameras Two backup copies of all footage before any card is formatted, no exceptions Files labeled by episode, organized, synced, and delivered same day whenever possible The studio broken down, gear cased and charged, left the way it was found Qualifications Five or more years shooting professionally in studio, broadcast, branded content, or serious digital work Able to run camera, audio, and lighting solo, competently and consistently, on provided gear Experience running a multi-episode batch day, with the ability to hold consistency and reset fast between episodes Strong audio skills, including lavs, booms, mixers, gain staging, and room treatment Experience with interview and talking-head lighting that's flattering, consistent, and repeatable across sessions Gear-agnostic, comfortable learning new bodies and mixers quickly and shooting by call time Clean media management practices, including backing up before wiping and labeling files consistently Based in Miami and able to work on-site at 1657 N.
