About AsKevin:
AsKevin is a network of Digital Coaches helping seniors, busy professionals, and home owners with any technology issues holistically: any tech, any brand, any model, any app, any digital & electronic problems. Our mission is to make people's digital life easier. We solve tech problems for seniors and individuals on a 1-on-1 basis at their homes. In addition, we provide tech talks and group workshops at senior centers, retirement communities and special events. We cover a wide range of tech topics relevant to older adults such as cybersecurity, scam prevention, smartphone how-to, AI for seniors, digital wallets, iPhone photos management, and cool tech for seniors. About the
Position:
We are looking for a service-minded, patient, articulate, and dynamite Digital Coach/Speaker to join our growing team. You may be a retired teacher who is comfortable with technology, you may be the neighborhood go-to tech gal who enjoys public speaking. You are comfortable with speaking in front of a crowd of 30 people and managing a class of 4-20 older adults. You don't have to develop the teaching materials, but you can contribute if you like curriculum development and choose to do so. We have all the class materials and curriculum. We are mainly looking for someone who can deliver the course materials and help older adults navigate our changing digital world.
What You'll Do:
Educate & teach: Empower clients with the knowledge and skills to confidently use technology in their everyday lives. Manage in-person workshops : manage a class of 4 to 20 older adults, assess how to adjust class materials to address class participants in real-time and handle in-class Q&A.
Human Connection:
Build strong relationships with clients, especially older adults, offering guidance in a clear, understandable, and compassionate way.
Travel to workshops:
All the tech workshops/tech talks are in Washtenaw County, primarily in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Dexter, Saline, and maybe Plymouth (occasionally) (Optional) Develop workshop topics : if you would like to develop additional workshops related to senior use of technology, we are happy to have you contribute to the curriculum. (Optional - if you are tech savvy and also want to provide in-home support):
Provide Tech Support:
Assist clients with various tech-related tasks such as setting up devices, troubleshooting issues with Macs, Windows, printers, and mobile phones.
Troubleshoot & Diagnose:
Identify and solve tech problems in a variety of settings (in-home or virtually).
Work Flexibly:
Manage your schedule to complete 15-20 hours per week, with a balance of in-person and remote work.
Who We're Looking For:
Engaging Good Speaker/Teacher:
You have experience teaching or giving talks to groups and enjoy explaining complicated subjects in a way that is clear, well-paced, and easily understandable.
People-Focused:
You have experience working with older adults and those who may need help at different paces.
Tech-Comfortable:
You don't have to be a tech guru, but you are comfortable with tech and the various terminologies related to Macs, Windows PCs, printers, phones, Cloud, cybersecurity, and other basic tech tools.
Problem Solver:
You're a natural when it comes to diagnosing and solving problems, or you are comfortable in reaching out to the experts to find the right answers.
Professional & Trustworthy:
You're comfortable providing services in a respectful, professional manner in person and entering clients' homes.
Flexible & Growth-Oriented:
Interested in being part of an expanding team and helping shape the future of our service.
Reliable Transportation:
Must have reliable transportation to get to and from client appointments in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience or experience giving talks/ presentations either in a professional or volunteer capacity. Previous experience working with older adults is a plus.
Group management experience:
you have experience engaging groups to participate on activities Familiarity with common tech problems related to computers, printers, and phones. Experience with both Mac and Windows operating systems. Why Join Us?
