In this pivotal contractor role, you will be instrumental in crafting innovative and impactful data visualizations and infographics that captivate audiences and communicate powerful narratives. Your work will directly influence how information is perceived and understood across various media, making a significant contribution to high-profile editorial initiatives and shaping the visual language of data for a brand celebrated for its design integrity. As a key contributor, you will leverage your strategic thinking and design expertise to elevate the visual communication of data. You will collaborate closely with creative leads and directors, translating intricate information into clear, engaging, and narrative-driven visuals that resonate across diverse platforms and formats. This role offers the opportunity to lead the creative execution of projects, proactively shaping editorial content and contributing to the visual identity of a world-renowned brand.Key Responsibilities:
- Craft innovative and compelling design solutions for data visualization and infographics, developing visual systems and design language for charts and graphs in editorial contexts.
- Lead the creation and production of design solutions, working within established creative direction.
- Partner with creative leads to produce inspiring infographics and data visualizations aligned with strategic briefs.
- Proactively contribute to upcoming editorial initiatives, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas.
- Translate complex data and information into clear, narrative-driven visuals that engage diverse audiences.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including journalists, editors, engineers, data scientists, and animators.
- Develop and execute editorial design strategies, ensuring content is engaging across platforms and audiences.
- Rapidly prototype and test design ideas within development environments to refine solutions.
What You'll Bring:
- 7-10 years of relevant experience as a designer working with data-driven content at an agency, design studio, or media company.
- An outstanding portfolio showcasing a diverse range of formats, applications, and client work.
- Proven experience in reporting, data gathering, and transforming information into clear, narrative-driven visuals.
- Strong proficiency in graphic design, typography, and illustration.
- Experience with D3, Processing, or similar data visualization tools and libraries.
- Demonstrated experience prototyping ideas within a development environment.
- Deep understanding of how information design translates across various platforms, media, and technologies.
- Knowledge of current trends in infographics, charting, and visual storytelling.
- Understanding of user-centered design principles, including the role of motion in storytelling.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across time zones.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, presenting polished solutions to a broader creative team.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

- Editorial experience or experience in publishing, magazines, or content platforms.
- Experience in brand design, social media, or environmental graphics.
