BEPC is seeking a highly motivated Creative Director, Medical Content to join our client's site in South San Francisco, CA. This role will support the medical content track by leading creative direction at the intersection of creative excellence and scientific rigor. The Creative Director will guide a multidisciplinary team of writers and designers while ensuring all medical and disease-state content is compelling, scientifically accurate, and compliant within a regulated environment. This position requires balancing creative innovation with MLR review requirements, fair balance, and evidence-based claims.Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Own creative direction for medical and scientific content across multiple formats, including: Patient materials Healthcare Professional (HCP) materials Disease-state education Congress assets and social content Internal scientific communications Translate complex clinical data and scientific narratives into clear, accurate, and engaging creative work. Partner with medical affairs, brand marketing, and regulatory stakeholders to align creative concepts with medical strategy and label requirements. Lead and mentor medical writers, designers, and production staff. Run creative reviews and elevate creative standards across the studio. Present creative work and rationale to senior stakeholders. Defend creative decisions using both aesthetic and scientific reasoning. Anticipate Medical-Legal-Regulatory (MLR) feedback and incorporate review readiness into the creative process. Contribute to studio playbooks, including creative principles, medical content standards, and reference frameworks for future work..Main Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor's degree.Experience :
4 to 6 years of creative leadership experience. At least 5 years directing medical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare content in an in-house team, medical communications agency, or healthcare advertising agency. Demonstrated portfolio of medical or scientific creative work, including: HCP campaigns Patient education MOA storytelling Congress materials Similar medical content Working knowledge of the regulatory landscape for promotional and non-promotional medical content, including:FDA/OPDP
expectations Fair balance ISI placement On-label vs. off-label boundaries Experience leading work through MLR (or equivalent Medical-Legal-Regulatory review). Experience collaborating effectively with medical, legal, and regulatory reviewers. Strong conceptual and visual judgment across: Print Digital Video Presentation formats Excellent stakeholder management skills. Comfortable presenting to and negotiating with senior medical and commercial leaders.Preferred Qualifications:
Oncology or biologics experience. Pharma and Tech experience. Familiarity with Veeva Vault PromoMats or similar content management and review systems. Experience establishing or scaling an in-house studio or content team. Familiarity with AMA style. Comfortable reading clinical publications and prescribing information. AboutBEPC BEPC
