Role Summary:
The Art Director & Producer is a "player-coach" hybrid role, responsible for both the high-level creative vision and the tactical execution of the agency's visual output. This individual bridges the gap between conceptual storytelling and final production, ensuring that all creative assets are aesthetically elevated, brand-aligned, and delivered with technical precision. Unlike a traditional director role, this position requires a high level of hands-on production work. The Art Director & Producer is expected to lead the creative process while simultaneously acting as a primary "maker," personally executing design, video, or digital assets from concept to completion.
Core Responsibilities:
Creative Direction & Brand Stewardship Serve as the visual "creative quality steward" for the agency, ensuring all internal and client-facing work meets the agency's standards for excellence. Translate complex strategic objectives into compelling visual metaphors and design systems. Mentor and provide feedback to internal designers, helping develop their craft and strategic, data-informed design thinking. Own quality control for design team output before client delivery, in partnership with the COO. Lead brainstorming and conceptualization for new campaigns and high-stakes pitches. Hands-on Execution & Design Act as a lead creator, spending a significant portion of time personally designing, editing, and building campaign assets. Produce high-fidelity deliverables across various media, including digital design, motion graphics, and print collateral. Lead and execute photo and video production support as required by client scope and agency needs Coordinate shoot preparation, equipment readiness, production schedules, and post-production delivery Ensure production timelines, scope expectations, and budgets for video/photo/creative projects are properly managed and aligned with client expectations Maintain expert-level mastery of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite to ensure efficient and modern production workflows. Handle technical quality control, including color grading, typography refinement, and final file prep for distribution. Production Management & Oversight Own the "Producer" lifecycle: managing production timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for creative projects. Coordinate external vendor relationships — photographers, videographers, printers, illustrators — in partnership with agency leadership. Oversee on-set production for photo or video shoots, ensuring the creative vision is captured accurately and efficiently. Coordinate with the Account Manager and COO to ensure creative workflows align with broader agency timelines and client expectations. Workflow & Asset Optimization Build and maintain a structured asset management system for all creative files. Identify and implement tools or processes that increase the speed and quality of creative output. Stay current on design trends, AI integration in creative workflows, and production technology to keep the agency at the forefront of the industry. Professional Expectations Demonstrate positive collaboration, ownership, and team-first leadership consistent with the agency's culture and core values Maintain professionalism in communication, meetings, and cross-department collaboration Contribute to a solutions-oriented environment that supports accountability, trust, and creative excellence across the agency Operate with flexibility and willingness to support evolving agency needs in a small-team environment Collaborate proactively with Account Management, Digital, and Operations teams to ensure smooth project execution and strong client outcomes
What Success Looks Like:
The "agency style" is distinct, consistent, and consistently high-quality across all client accounts. Creative projects transition seamlessly from "Big Idea" to "Final Deliverable" without losing quality or intent. External vendors are managed effectively, resulting in high-caliber work that stays within budget. The agency maintains a high ratio of finished, polished work to production hours.
