Job Description

The Hillsboro Hops are looking for an energetic, quick-thinking performer to bring our beloved mascots Barley and Bacaanda to life. These two are the mischievous faces of the Hops — full of personality, humor, and heart — and we need someone ready to make memories and mischief across our community and in our brand-new ballpark!
Who You Are:
A natural entertainer who thrives on making people smile, laugh, and cheer. Comfortable commanding a crowd, improvising in the moment, and reading the energy of a game day. Physically active and able to perform in costume for extended periods (sometimes in extreme weather). Dedicated to delivering an unforgettable fan experience — whether you're hyping up the crowd, joining community parades, or filming social content. Flexible and professional; you'll represent the Hops and Sonadores both on and off the field.
What You'll Do:
Portray Barley and/or Bacaanda at Hops home games, events, and appearances. Work closely with the promotions and fan experience teams to plan in-game antics, community appearances, and surprise moments. Help bring the excitement of our new ballpark to life through mascot appearances, videos, and social media storytelling. Maintain and care for mascot costumes and props. Contribute creative ideas to keep the Hops spirit fun, fresh, and memorable.
What You'll Need:
Prior mascot, performance, or athletic experience is a plus — but not required. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A sense of humor and a willingness to get a little silly for the sake of fan joy. At least 18 years of age. Ideal height of 5'7"-6'0". Reliable transportation. Excellent interpersonal skills (especially with children). Excellent non-verbal communication skills. Reliable and punctual. Outgoing and creative personality with a desire and willingness to have fun and make some mischief. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. Why You'll Love It You'll be part of a passionate, people-first organization at one of the most exciting moments in Hops history — the opening of our new ballpark and a new era of Hops baseball. You'll help create memories that fans will talk about long after the lights go down. If you're ready to cause some good-natured chaos, spread community joy, and be the heartbeat of Hops fun , we'd love to see you suit up. Compensation This is a part-time position with hours/dates varying based on scheduled events/games. The chosen performer will be paid a per-event rate of $100. We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
