Book Editor

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented editor to review and refine a nonfiction medical manuscript focused on emergency medicine cases. The book combines real-world clinical experiences with engaging storytelling, intended for both medical professionals and general readers. The manuscript has already been accepted by a publisher and is in the final stages of preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

Proofread the full manuscript for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity Edit for readability, flow, tone, and consistency while preserving the author's voice Ensure accurate use of medical terminology and consistency across cases Identify and correct structural issues, redundancies, and unclear passages Provide suggestions to enhance narrative engagement and coherence Verify formatting consistency (headings, case structure, references, etc.) Flag any potential factual inconsistencies or ambiguities for author review

Qualifications:

Proven experience editing nonfiction books (medical or healthcare-related preferred) Strong command of English language, grammar, and style Familiarity with emergency medicine or clinical terminology is highly desirable Experience working with case-based or narrative-driven content is a plus Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive subject matter professionally Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Skills:

Background in medicine, healthcare, or medical writing/editing Experience editing memoir-style or story-based nonfiction Knowledge of publishing standards and manuscript preparation

Deliverables:

Fully proofread and edited manuscript with tracked changes Summary of major edits and suggestions for improvement
