Job Description

Reporting to the senior director of strategic communications, this position serves as a primary editorial partner for the university's news and strategic communications operation. This role supports the university's strategic communication efforts by contributing advanced editorial expertise to the creation, coordination and dissemination of news and information that enhances the institution's reputation, engages key stakeholders and aligns with university goals. Working closely with the senior director of strategic communications, this position provides continuity for day-to-day newsroom operations and exercises delegated editorial authority in support of established priorities. The role requires exceptional news judgment, strong collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment. http://www.unl.edu/equity/notice-nondiscrimination Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, English or related field plus two years professional experience in a newsroom, agency or for an organization conducting public relations and communications. Ability to identify and seek sources for news stories necessary. Ability to develop communication strategy and management functions essential. Must have knowledge of and experience using Associated Press style. Experience in converging new technologies in news delivery such as new media and social networking technologies helpful necessary.
