Job Description

As an Editorial Assistant, you'll support the daily editorial production of our growing portfolio of newsletters and digital publications inside of Optimism's AI Lab. You'll help identify compelling stories, edit and fact-check content, prepare newsletters for publication, and ensure every issue meets our editorial standards before it reaches readers. This is an ideal role for someone early in their editorial career who loves writing, enjoys working with new technology, and wants to help shape the future of publishing. What You'll Do Curate daily stories from trusted health, wellness, and longevity sources. Research and organize editorial ideas for newsletters and articles. Edit copy for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and consistency. Fact-check and validate content before publication. Review and QA articles within our content management system (CMS). Build and format daily email newsletters. Set up and schedule email campaigns. Write headlines, subject lines, summaries, and social copy. Maintain editorial calendars and publishing workflows. Collaborate closely with editors, designers, and AI product teams to continuously improve our editorial process. We're Looking For Someone Who Has a genuine passion for health, wellness, nutrition, longevity, or mindfulness. Is an excellent writer with exceptional attention to detail. Loves organizing information and making complex ideas easier to understand. Is naturally curious and enjoys learning every day. Works independently while managing multiple deadlines. Is comfortable learning new software and working AI tools. Takes pride in producing polished, error-free work. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, English, marketing, health, or a related field. Strong writing and editing skills. Familiarity with Google Workspace and modern productivity tools. Experience working in CMS is helpful. Experience creating or editing email newsletters or prior use of an ESP is a plus. Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney is a plus. We're especially interested in candidates who have experience with: Email newsletter publishing WordPress or Webflow CMS platforms SEO fundamentals Digital publishing Health or wellness media What You'll Learn This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of the fastest-changing areas of publishing. You'll work directly with editors, AI tools, and modern editorial systems while learning how trusted content is researched, produced, and distributed to large audiences.
Further Details Part-time:
Approximately 25 hours per week
Hybrid:
1-2 days per week in our Orange County office Open to candidates throughout Southern California Flexible scheduling available for the right candidate
Pay:
$35.00 - $45.00 per hour
