Compensation:
$39.00 to $44.50 per hour
Overview:
Our client is a leading digital health and medical media organization that delivers trusted clinical news, education, and insights to healthcare professionals worldwide. This role sits within the editorial team supporting physician-focused medical journalism and specialty news coverage. The Rheumatology/Dermatology Editor will be responsible for assigning, editing, and writing high-quality medical news and feature content focused on rheumatology and dermatology topics. The role combines editorial oversight with long-form feature reporting and requires someone who can translate complex clinical information into engaging, accurate, and accessible content for physician audiences. This is an ideal opportunity for a strong health editor with deep specialty knowledge and experience working in a fast-paced multimedia news environment.
Responsibilities:
Assign and edit rheumatology and dermatology news content for physician and specialist audiences. Ensure all editorial content is accurate, timely, balanced, clinically relevant, and aligned with audience needs. Pitch, report, and write in-depth feature stories with fresh and compelling editorial angles. Collaborate closely with editorial leadership on feature development and content strategy. Work cross-functionally with marketing teams to support newsletters and promotional editorial initiatives. Coordinate with operations and production teams to ensure timely content publishing. Edit and proofread content for grammar, clarity, tone, and medical accuracy. Translate complex medical terminology and clinical concepts into accessible editorial content. Manage freelancer assignments and provide editorial guidance as needed. Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. 5+ years of experience in health or medical content editing and writing. Strong knowledge of rheumatology and dermatology subject matter. Experience assigning and editing editorial content for professional or healthcare audiences. Strong feature writing and investigative storytelling skills. Ability to edit for accuracy, timeliness, clarity, and relevance. Excellent proofreading, organizational, and deadline management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving editorial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Biology, Journalism, or related field. Experience working within medical journalism, healthcare publishing, or clinical news organizations. Experience editing content for physician or specialist audiences. Familiarity with multimedia editorial formats and digital publishing workflows. Experience collaborating with freelance writers and cross-functional content teams. Ability to translate highly technical or academic medical information into engaging content for broader audiences. Creative mindset with strong editorial judgment and story development capabilities.
Pay:
