The office also provides computer services, data networking, and related customer services to the Legislature. For more info on the OLC please visit www.legislativecounsel.ca.gov/ The Legislative Data Center (LDC) within the Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) is seeking to hire student assistants to work under close supervision and direction of the Information Systems Manager and/or designated leads to provide assistance proofing electronic Legal documents. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Work Schedule Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Flexible with student schedule. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. There will be onsite training and a hybrid schedule to follow. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday

91 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of using Microsoft Office. Knowledge of proofreading techniques. Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail. Ability to prioritize assignments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability and willingness to learn new tasks and show initiative. Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, both in oral and written form. Preferred Qualifications Excellent attendance. Strong proofreading and editing skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Duties and Responsibilities Review scanned legal documents for spelling and punctuation errors and make necessary corrections. Assist in the input of data into the Historical Statutes database. Provide status reports on work performed within the database on a basis at the discretion of the Project Manager/Unit Manager. Perform other related duties as needed. Adhere to OLC dress code (in-office). Avoid use OLC equipment for personal use. Demonstrate accountability for work assignments and attendance. Report absences, and availability, to assigned lead and/or manager. Treat others with courtesy and respect. Adhere to OLC rules, regulations, and policies. Demonstrate professional behavior, and demeanor, when interacting with all levels of staff, and the public. Perform work and maintain availability during work hours. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Have normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment.
