Job Description

The UVU Policy Office is seeking a new student intern for its editorial internship.
Required Documents:
Letter of Recommendation from an instructor or employer One Writing Sample and One Editing Sample OR Two Writing Samples Class Schedule All applicants will be required to take an editing test. Duties include, but are not limited to: proofreading editing policy research and other tasks as needed Students can arrange to receive internship credit. Must be a current UVU student Must have taken or are currently enrolled in English 2050 (advanced editing class) and/or have equivalent experience Have a working knowledge of how to use the Chicago Manual of Style Have proofreading and editing experience Students with prior publication experience and advanced writing and editing skills are encouraged to apply. We have typically hired students from the English and Political Science programs, but we encourage qualified students from other disciplines to apply. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred The schedule is negotiable. Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm. Hours per week can range from 15 to 19. Additional hours may become available as special projects arise. The student's class schedule will be accommodated

Advanced verbal and written communication skills Editing and proofreading skills (required for editorial interns) Project management Research and analysis Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently Able to manage time and complete projects within reasonable time frames Must be comfortable working with people from all levels of management at the University Punctual and able to maintain a consistent schedule
