Job Description

Shaw Concepts:
Shaw Concepts designs and manufactures high-performance tactical equipment for military, law enforcement, and civilian users. Our products are developed and manufactured in-house, with a focus on practical innovation, durability, functionality, and field performance.
Position Summary:
Shaw Concepts is seeking a creative, hands-on Product Designer to develop sewn products within the tactical nylon space. This position will take products from initial objectives through design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and final handoff to manufacturing. The ideal candidate can balance creativity with durability, cost, weight, materials, and manufacturability. A tactical or military background is not required but a product design background is.
Responsibilities:
Design creative products based on defined objectives and limitations. Create technical sketches, patterns, and layouts in Adobe Illustrator. Operate a Laser Cutter to produce parts for sewing into prototypes. Sew and evaluate functional prototypes. Refine designs through iteration, testing and feedback. Create manufacturing tech pack documentation, including patterns, measurements, bills of materials, and assembly instructions. Work with manufacturing to ensure products can be produced consistently. Review samples and initial production runs for accuracy and quality. Maintain organized product files, revisions, and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Experience designing and developing physical products. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite & other programs. Ability to operate a sewing machine and build prototypes. Understanding of sewn-product construction and manufacturing. Strong creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Ability to create clear production documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with soft goods, bags, apparel, outdoor equipment, or tactical nylon. Drawing or illustration skills. CAD or 3D modeling experience. 3D-printing or rapid-prototyping experience. Experience creating technical packages, patterns, or bills of materials. Familiarity with industrial sewing equipment and technical textiles.

$50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
