Title:
Senior Footwear Designer Description:
Work closely with design leadership to execute creative direction for footwear including new concept ideation/sketching, material research, mood and theme boards, colorways, and graphics.Duties include:
- Collaborate with product planning, product development, and factory partners to execute footwear designs involving tech pack creation, prototype/blueprint/shell pattern reviews and revisions, and design confirmations;
- Lead/mentor junior members of footwear team;
- Collaborate with 3D designers to prototype product concepts via in-house workshop;
- Design to cost, balancing key factors such as material prices, construction methods, and target margins;
- Collaborate with other design teams including apparel, accessories, color, and graphics to create impactful and integrated product offerings across all product categories;
- Collaborate with marketing and content teams on storytelling to bring brand to life during product launches;
- Drive seasonal product stories through brand lens coordinating colors, graphics and patterns; and
- Seamlessly switch between projects/seasons and adapt to rapidly changing needs and/or direction of the brand.
Requirements:
Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Design or related field and 3 years of footwear design experience. Employer will also accept a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Design or related field and 5 years of footwear design experience. Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently:- 3 years of experience utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to visualize design concepts, build technical blueprints, colorways, presentation materials and other design files.
- 3 years of design ideation experience including communicating and executing new ideas across footwear categories through 3D sketches, technical drawings and blueprints.
- 3 years of experience executing footwear product design details including fit, construction, material, form, style, performance and cost/value requirements.
- 3 years of experience collaborating with design teams to create integrated product offerings across footwear product categories.
