The Role :
We're looking for the best creative talent in the industry. IML has an immediate need for a Sleepwear Designer to join our team in the New York office.
The right candidate has hands-on sleepwear experience and understands exactly what it takes to make the perfect garment - from fabric hand and fit to print placement and packaging. You'll interpret line direction into beautiful, well-executed designs and see them through from concept to production-ready sample.
What You'll Do :
Interpret seasonal line direction into original, commercially strong sleepwear designs across licensed and branded programs Partner with the product development team and overseas factory partners to develop samples, ensuring correct fabric selection, construction, and print execution Create and maintain artwork, CADs, and tech-ready design files Own tech packing, sketching, and fit review, and maintain an organized design library Develop packaging and merchandising concepts that bring programs to life at retail Build polished presentation decks for internal reviews and buyer meetings, with strong attention to formatting and storytelling Lead trend research and translate market analysis into actionable design direction Comp shop and analyze the competitive landscape to keep our assortments ahead of the market Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, sales, and licensing teams to ensure designs meet customer and licensor requirements
What You Bring:
Proven experience designing sleepwear (loungewear, pajama sets, sleep separates); licensed apparel experience a strong plus Deep understanding of sleepwear fabrications, trims, construction, and fit A strong merchandising skillset - you understand what the customer needs and how to build an assortment that sells Expertise developing samples with overseas partners and communicating clear, accurate design intent Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; strong CAD and presentation skills Sharp eye for trend, color, and print, backed by disciplined market analysis Excellent organization and communication; able to manage multiple programs on tight calendars Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field, or equivalent experience
