Overview Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Graphic Design Intern in St. Joseph, MO to collaborate alongside our proposal team to create visually appealing and compelling graphics that enhance our proposal documents to win multi-million-dollar projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in graphic design within a professional setting. Develop your portfolio and hone your skills with real-world immersion in design strategy decision-making and have a hands-on role in creating visual solutions that persuade a target audience. The intern will participate in all aspects of print and digital graphic design and visualization solutions across the proposal/project pursuit lifecycle - Request for Information (RFI), Request of Qualifications (RFQs), and Request for Proposals (RFPs); brochures; slide decks; flyers; logos and other content as required. The ideal intern will be a creative thinker with strong artistic skills capable of developing eye-catching editorial illustrations, page layouts, and creative solutions for proposal pitch documents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Collaborate with the proposal team to understand project requirements and design needs.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop creative concepts for proposals.
  • Participate in storyboarding and document set-up meetings and identify where artwork and editorial illustrations can strategically be used.
  • Assist in designing templates and visual elements for proposals using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) that align with proposal objectives and the target audience.
  • Create visual solutions that effectively communicate ideas and data - layouts, type, fonts, colors, headers, infographics, pictures/images, charts/tables, and diagrams graphics.
  • Edit and refine graphics based on feedback from team members.
  • Ensure all design materials are consistent with branding and style guidelines.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Advertising, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design skills and creativity.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
